WASHINGTON, Pa. (March 4) – The Washington Wild Things have signed former Twins’ farmhand and right-handed pitcher Liam Rocha, made official with the Frontier League today by the team. In 2025, Rocha was limited to 12 appearances before a May release. He was 1-1 with a 6.35 in 11.1 innings and had a save. He struck out 17 and only surrendered nine hits in his time on the mound. Seven of the 12 outings came with Fort Myers before the other five were for the FCL Twins.

He’d go on to pitch in the Arizona Fall League, where he was 1-0 with a 4.26 ERA in seven bullpen appearances. Over 12.2 innings, he struck out 12 and allowed six runs. Rocha’s first foray into pro ball saw him limited to just two outings post his college season in 2023. He worked two innings and allowed one hit. He also struck out one.

At California Baptist in three seasons, he was 11-3 with a 3.81 ERA in 52 games (21 stars). In 151.0 innings, he allowed 128 hits and struck out 176. His best season came in 2023, where he was 6-1 with a 3.39 ERA in 17 appearances, 13 of which were starts. In 82.1 innings, he struck out 103 against 30 walks. He posted an ERA of 4.29 in 2022 and at 4.36 in 2021. He also spent a summer with Peninsula in the Alaska League, a summer collegiate league, where he was 1-3 with a 3.46 ERA in six outings (five starts). In 39.0 innings, he struck out 42 with 11 walks.

He was the 2023 WAC Pitcher of the Year and All-Conference First Team in his final season at California Baptist. He was also WAC Pitcher of the Week three times in 2023.

Rocha prepped at San Dimas High School in California, where he graduated from in 2020. He was a two-time All-Valle Vista League Second Teamer.
