Cole Fowler Signed by Wild Things After All-American Season at Lynn University
CRESTWOOD, Il. (July 22) – The Washington Wild Things have signed infielder Cole Fowler, who spent his last two seasons of college ball at Lynn University (Division II). In a corresponding move, infielder Carlos Amezquita was released from the active roster.
Fowler played in 48 games and slashed .438/.472/.810 (1.281 OPS) this season for Lynn. He doubled 15 times, tripled three times and launched 19 homers while he drove in 64. He struck out just 14 times in 230 plate appearances. In 2024, Fowler played in 50 games and slashed .318/.391/.512 with 14 doubles, two triples, seven long balls and 44 RBI. He was All-SSC First Team in 2024.
This season, he was named an All-American by three major organizations: the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings, the Conference Commissioners Association (CCA) and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America (NCBWA). He was coted First-Team All-American by ABCA/Rawlings and Second-Team by CCA and NCBWA. He was the first Fighting Knight to receive All-American recognition since 2018. His season ranked third in single-season program history in batting average, hits, home runs, slugging percentage and total bases. He was also selected as ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Team and South Region Position Player of the Year. He was named NCBWA and D2CCA South Region Player of the Year.
Fowler joined the team yesterday and will be active tonight for the series opener in Crestwood at Ozinga Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. CT.
