Eddie Hacopian Signed by Wild Things
AUGUSTA, NJ (July 17) – The Washington Wild Things signed infielder Eddie Hacopian to the active roster Thursday. The active roster remains at 22, with the team releasing infielder Jake Houtz in the same set of transactions submitted to the league July 17.
Hacopian was playing in the MLB Draft League this season and was slashing .312/.421/.431 in 28 games with Frederick. He had six doubles, two triples and a homer with 18 RBI, 17 stolen bases in 20 tries and had drawn 20 walks with 21 strikeouts in 134 plate appearances. This spring at Maryland (Big 10), he played in 56 games and sported a .274/.377/.461 with 11 doubles, two triples and 10 home runs. He drove in 48 in the final season of three with the Terrapins. He walked 31 times to 34 strikeouts and stole seven of eight base-stealing attempts in 2025.
Eddie was First-Team All-Big Ten in 2024 and ABCA Second Team All-East Region in 2024, a season that saw him start and play in all 56 games for Maryland. That season, he slashed .377/.474/.573 with 16 doubles, nine homers and 51 RBI. He walked 36 times and was hit by eight pitches against 25 strikeouts. In 2023, he slashed .327/.407/.486 with 16 doubles, eight home runs and 49 RBI in 63 games.
As a freshman at Cypress College in 2022, he played in 41 games and had a .387 batting average with 23 RBI and 11 stolen bases. Hacopian was a three-year letterwinner at Winston Churchill High School. He hit .396 with 15 doubles, three homers and 33 RBI and 16 stolen bases in the Cal Ripken League in 2022. He was named Cal Ripken League Offensive Player of the Year and LCS MVP that summer.
Hacopian will be active tomorrow for the series opener against the Sussex County Miners.
