WASHINGTON, Pa. (May 30) - The Washington Wild Things have signed RHP Connor Blantz to the active roster and released Albert Cuello-Batista, in transactions made today in advance of the team's series opener against the Schaumburg Boomers at EQT Park. 

Blantz comes to the Wild Things after five seasons in collegiate baseball, the final of which was spent at Millersville University this season. He was 6-2 with a 3.89 ERA for the Marauders this season. In 13 games, all of which were starts, he had a complete game and logged 69.1 innings. In that work he struck out 98 to just 20 walks. He was named PSAC East Pitcher of the Week on March 31 and NCBWA Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Week April 1. 

He played two seasons at North Carolina A&T prior to transferring to Millersville for his graduate season. At North Carolina A&T, he made 14 appearances and four starts totaling 32 innings in 2023. He had a 5.63 ERA with 24 strikeouts. The following year in 2024, he posted a 4.28 ERA and a 2-4 record with 39 strikeouts in 33.2 innings across 21 appearances. Before going to NC A&T, he played two seasons at Harford Community College, posting a .138 BAA in 18.2 innings and 14 appearances his first year before posting a .191 BAA with 64 strikeouts as a sophomore. 

The right hander lettered in baseball, football and swimming at Lampeter-Strasburg. Also this season at Millersville, he was named NCBWA and CCA All-Atlantic Region 2nd Team as well as All-PSAC East 2nd Team. 

Cuello-Batista was released to make room on the roster after five appearances in a Wild Things uniform. He walked eight and allowed seven hits and eight total runs (seven earned) with eight strikeouts in nine innings of work. 

The Wild Things are set to host the Schaumburg Boomers on Fireworks Friday, presented by PBR, tonight at 7:05.
