Trimarco Punches Out Nine as Wild Things Take Middle Game of Series

WASHINGTON, Pa (June 6) - The Washington Wild Things showed exemplary discipline on both sides of the ball in game two of three-game series with the Traverse City Beach Bums, emerging victorious in a 6-4 decision. Wild Things starter Frank Trimarco (3-0) went 6.1 innings while striking out nine batters. On the other side, the offense was able to plate six runs on 11 hits.

The Beach Bums (9-13) were able to strike first to start off the scoring. Shortstop Will Kengor belted a two-run home run to take a lead in the top of first inning.

Immediately after, in the bottom half of the frame, the Wild Things (14-9) came back and were able to take the lead after a four-hit, three-run inning highlighted by an RBI double by catcher Kyle Pollock and a two-run triple by right fielder Hector Roa.

In the bottom of the fourth, Washington struck again when second baseman Brett Marr was able to knock in third baseman Mike Hill with an RBI single. In the fifth the Wild Things tacked on another run when Hector Roa recorded his third RBI of the night to increase the lead to 5-2.

One half-inning later, the Beach Bums brought another run in to cut the lead. Traverse City catcher Luke Lowery doubled to bring in center fielder Arby Fields. Following that run, Harris belted his sixth triple of the year that scored Marr to negate the run that was scored in the top half.

Traverse City struck again in the top of the seventh when Orlando Rivera brought in right fielder Isaac Benard to cut the lead down to two again. This would be the last run of the game as the Wild Things bullpen was able to close out the rest of the game.

Washington relievers Davis Adkins and Zach Strecker combined to throw 2.2 scoreless innings. The only baserunner came off a walk before Strecker recorded the final three outs for his seventh save.

The Wild Things look for the sweep tomorrow night in game three of the series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
