Washington Defeats Lake Erie

WASHINGTON, PA – The Washington Wild Things (35-37) and the Lake Erie Crushers (32-42) went head-to-head in an August 10, 2016 soggy competition. Washington recorded the win on the outing with a score of 4-3.

LHP Matt Snyder (1-0) earned the win on the hill for Washington – in his 5.1 innings on the mound, Snyder allowed five hits and produced three strikeouts. His season ERA drops to 4.26.

The Wild Things were the first to score when Andrew Heck doubled and was drove in by a Ricky Rodriguez single. David Popkins then blasted a two-run homerun, giving Washington a 3-0 lead.

Lake Erie tallied the board in the fourth when Eric Grabe scored on a wild pitch. Washington answered the run in the sixth when Logan Uxa scored after being walked to lead off the inning. Lake Erie threatened in the eighth when Grabe shot a two-run homerun.

The two teams will be back in action tomorrow, Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 7:05 p.m. It will be Thirsty Thursday at the ballpark, where draft beer and soda is $1. Along with 8-1-1 Night, sponsored by Columbia Gas, where tickets will be $8.11.
