Wild Things Fall To Boomers

The Washington Wild Things (37-41) and the Schaumburg Boomers (36-45) went head-to-head at CONSOL Energy Park during a Friday, August 19, 2016 competition. The Boomers defeated the Wild Things 5-0 in the nine-inning outing.

RHP Chase Cunningham (5-9) recorded the loss for the Wild Things; during the outing Cunningham recorded by six strikeouts and allowed eight hits in his eight innings on the mound. RHP Ashton Perritt (0-0) and LHP Brian O’Keefe (2-1) both went to the hill during the outing for Washington. RHP Brett Mabry (2-0) was the winning pitcher for the Boomers.

The Boomers scored in the third off of a Jordan Dean single and a Kenny Towns homerun. The Wild Things held then off the Boomers until the ninth when Nick Oberg singled, scoring Schaumburg’s fifth run. Wild Thing Chris Grayson went three-for-four with a single, double and triple.

The Wild Things return home tomorrow, Saturday, August 20, 2016 to continue a three game set against the Schaumburg Boomers beginning at 7:05 p.m. EST. The Friday night competition will include Saturday Giveaway and Breast Cancer awareness night.
