Wild Things Sign Mack Anglin to Active Roster Tuesday

WASHINGTON, Pa. (June 30) – The Washington Wild Things have signed former Royals farmhand and Clemson standout Mack Anglin to the active roster. He has missed the last two seasons while under contract with the Royals with injury. Anglin was an All-ACC Freshman selection and Third-Team All-ACC player at Clemson and was drafted in the 7th round in 2022 by the Kansas City Royals.

In a corresponding move, right-handed pitcher Will Rettig was released, making room on Washington’s active roster.

In his last season and only full pro season on the bump, Anglin posted a 2.01 ERA in 27 games (one start) for two affiliates. Of the 27 games, 24 of which were with Class-A Columbia. In 44.2 innings in 2023, he struck out 49 and walked 29, allowing 33 hits and 10 earned runs. In 2022, Anglin pitched in just one game after being selected in the 7th Round by the Royals and struck out a batter in one inning.

He pitched three seasons at Clemson and was All-ACC Third Team in 2022. He was 6-6 with a 4.48 ERA in 15 starts (all of his appearances) and struck out 78 against 52 walks in 76.1 innings. He pitched in the Cape Cod League in 2021 after his year at Clemson ended with a 3.99 ERA in 13 games (eight starts). Over 56.1 innings, he fanned 75 and walked 33 with 48 hits allowed. He was drafted in the 13th Round in 2021 by the Washington Nationals after being named an All-ACC Freshman but did not sign.

Anglin received a redshirt in 2020 following the cancellation of the season due to COVID-19. He had made four appearances for the Tigers that season. He was a Perfect Game All-American and Ohio Gatorade Player of the Year in high school at Highland in his hometown of Marengo, Ohio. There, he was a three-time All-State selection and also scored more than 1,000 points in basketball.

Anglin is active for tonight’s game in Evansville against the Otters.
