Wild Things Drop Fourth-Straight Contest

WASHINGTON, Pa. (Aug. 19) – The Washington Wild Things got three hits from Miles Simington and managed just four in the first eight innings of the game while Evansville had eight of nine leadoff hitters reach, leading to a 6-3 loss for the Wild Things after they managed two runs in the ninth.

The Central Division lead is down to three games as a result of the loss and Washington’s playoff magic number is still at six as a result of the loss and Windy City’s win earlier.

Kenten Egbert was tagged for seven hits and four walks, allowing four runs in his first loss as a Wild Thing across a season-best 5.2 innings. He fanned four. Evansville scored once in the first, once in the fourth and twice in the sixth against the Washington righty. The Otters got a two-run homer in the sixth by Marcos Gonzalez off Michael O’Hanlon. Colt Anderson allowed a pair of leadoff baserunners but stranded both in the outing that lasted two innings of scoreless ball for the southpaw.

Simington’s third hit of the night plated Kyle Edwards in the eighth and Washington added RBI singles by Wagner Lagrange and Edwards in the ninth, bringing the tying run to the plate, but the comeback bid was ended with ease by Junior Cerda, who earned his 17th save of the season.

Washington will try and salvage a game and return their Central lead to four games in the finale tomorrow at 7:05 p.m.

The team’s $50 pack of six undated regular season ticket vouchers and card for one ticket to every home playoff game is available still for purchase here.
