Wild Things Sign 2024 American Association All Star Outfielder Miles Simington
WASHINGTON, Pa. (August 17) – Prior to tonight’s transaction deadline in the Frontier League, the Wild Things have added outfielder Miles Simington to the active roster, who’s been playing in Mexico this season between Dos Laredos and Quintana Roo.
Simington has played in Mexico for two seasons, as he appeared on three rosters in the league last year after splitting his state-side time between Winnipeg (American Association) and York (Atlantic League). He was with the Revolution last year when they won the Atlantic League title and was with Winnipeg in 2024 when the Goldeyes were a finalist in the American Association.
In all as a pro, Simington has had stops in the Mexican League, American Association, Atlantic League, the Australian Baseball League (ABL), the Mexican Pacific Winter League and the Frontier League. His Frontier League stop was in 21 games for Schaumburg during the 2023 season, where he hit .250 with three doubles and nine RBI.
Miles sported a slash line of .228/.297/.329 in Mexico this season with 13 doubles, two triples, four homers and 22 RBI to go with 22 stolen bases. His best stop and longest stop in 2025 was with Quintana Roo, where he was teammates with Antonio Monroy but did not cross paths with Kobe Foster. In 41 games for Quintana Roo last year, he slashed .339/.391/.554 with 15 doubles, four triples, five home runs and 24 RBI. He played in 15 games for Winnipeg last year and 13 for York before the postseason.
His entire 2024 was spent with Winnipeg in the American Association and his season was great. In 93 games, he slashed .329/.391/.503 with 34 doubles, four triples, seven homers and 65 RBI to go with 28 stolen bases in 34 tries. Miles was an All-Star selection that season. He played for Canberra in the ABL and drove in 15 that offseason.
In 2023, Simington split his season between Winnipeg (47 games) and Schaumburg. With the Goldeyes, he slashed .329/.383/.487 with 10 doubles, a triple, four homers and 21 RBI. He played for State College in the MLB Draft League in 2022 and appeared in 11 games after finishing his collegiate career with a season in 2022 at South Alabama. He was All-Sun Belt First Team at South Alabama after slashing .383/.452/.579 (1.032 OPS) with the team in 52 games. He had 15 doubles, three triples and seven home runs with 53 RBI.
His collegiate career also included two seasons at Purdue University, where he was Third Team All-Big Ten in 2021 after batting .322 with a team-high 14 doubles, five homers and 37 RBI for the Boilermakers. He played his sophomore season at Heartland Community College in Normal, Illinois, where he was First-Team All-Region 24 and All-Mid-West Athletic Conference after batting .363 with 21 doubles, seven homers and 36 RBI. He lettered as a freshman at Polk State CC in Winter Haven, Florida in 2018.
He lettered in both baseball at football at Normal Community High School, batting .343 with 27 RBI as a senior. He also made collegiate summer stops in the FCSL, Prospect League and the Northwoods League (with Traverse City).
