Czech Reaches Four Times in Defeat Saturday in Pearl

PEARL, Ms. (Aug. 15) – Andrew Czech reached four times and Cole Fowler reached three times in Saturday’s game in Mississippi, but it wasn’t enough, as Washington scored first but then saw Mississippi score the next 10 to take a big lead. Washington scored three times in the ninth but it was obviously not enough, as the Wild Things fell 10-5 at Trustmark Park.

Kobe Foster looked human Saturday night, as he was tagged for a career-high seven earned runs for the second time in his storied career on a career-high 11 hits for the fourth time in his career. It was not all quality contact, but enough it was as Mississippi scored once in the second, four times in the fifth and five times in the seventh, the first three of which came against Foster in the frame. Zander Sechrist surrendered the other two.

Washington plated two to start the game in the first on an RBI single by Czech and a fielder’s choice off the bat of Wagner Lagrange. The Wild Things then plated three off Mississippi closer Chris Barraza in the ninth on a run-scoring double by Anthony Brocato, a groundout by Kyle Edwards and a wild pitch.

Czech had three hits to pace the offense and walked once. Fowler walked twice and was hit by a pitch. The other hits came from Caleb Ketchup, Ryan Ford, Brocato and Isaias Quiroz.

The Wild Things will turn the ball to Ben Kowalski in the road trip’s finale tomorrow against the Mud Monsters. They’ll get a second crack at lefty Tyler Campbell as well, who they beat on Tuesday.

Washington’s playoff magic number has come down to six with outside help tonight. The team’s $50 pack of six undated regular season ticket vouchers and card for one ticket to every home playoff game is available still for purchase here.

The 24th season of Wild Things baseball in the MLB-partnered Frontier League is underway with more great baseball and entertainment to come.
