Wild Things' 11-Game Road Win Streak Snapped in Finale in Brockton
BROCKTON, Ma. (July 30) – Behind four solo homers off Washington’s Zander Sechrist, Brockton snapped Washington’s 11-game road win streak in the doubleheader and series finale Thursday night at Campanelli Stadium, winning 4-2.
Washington scored its two in the first on two hits and two walks plus a groundout to take a 2-0 advantage. Wagner Lagrange singled in a run and Caleb Ketchup grounded in a run to give the Wild Things the early lead. The loss after that marks only the sixth time Washington has scored first and lost a game this year. The Things are now 36-6 in those instances.
Brockton’s Derek Bender hit two solo homers, one in the second and one in the fourth. Scott Seeker hit one in the third and Evan Sleight one two batters after the second Bender homer.
The Wild Things will activate left-handed pitcher Kobe Foster from the injured list to start the opener of their weekend series tomorrow in Paterson, New Jersey. The first of three with the Jackals is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
