C Marshall Awtry Added to Active Roster, Mack On 7-Day IL, Among Four Transactions

SCHAUMBURG, Il. (June 28) – The Washington Wild Things have signed Marshall Awtry, a catcher, who will be active tonight in Schaumburg after an injury last night has forced catcher Charles Mack to the 7-Day Injured List. Awtry played for both the Lincoln Saltdogs (American Association) and the New York Boulders last season.

Also today, the Wild Things activated RHP Jacob McCaskey from the 7-Day Injured List and placed RHP Luke McCollough on the 7-Day Injured List, retroactive to June 27.

Awtry played five seasons of college ball between Goldey-Beacom and East Tennessee State. In those five seasons, he slashed .299/.388/.568 with 35 doubles, a triple, 31 home runs and 104 RBI. His first four seasons were at Goldey-Beacom and his final at East Tennessee State. He also played three summers of collegiate action in wood bat leagues.

In 2023 once finished at ETSU, Awtry signed with the Lincoln Saltdogs in the American Association and appeared in 36 games. He slashed .204/.317/.378 with five homers and 18 RBI. With the Saltdogs in 2024, he appeared in six games but was 1-for-11 at the plate with two runs. With the Boulders, he scored 19 times and had six doubles and two home runs to go with 12 RBI and 28 walks drawn in 37 games. He sported an on-base percentage of .369.

The middle game against the Schaumburg Boomers is slated for 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT at Wintrust Field.
