Four Relievers Post Zeroes in Middle Game Loss

WASHINGTON, Pa. (July 29) – The Washington Wild Things dropped the second game of their weekend series against the Joliet Slammers by a score of 6-0. 

Starting pitcher Dariel Fregio struggled as he pitched 3.1 innings and gave up four runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out four. 

Through the first two innings, Joliet scored four off an RBI single by Matt Warkentin, an RBI single by Chirstian Fedko and a two-run home run by Tyler Depreta-Johnson. Then The Slammers added a pair in the sixth off a GJ Hill two-run home run. 

In relief of Fregio, the Wild Things used five to get through this one. Stephen Knapp, Arrison Perez, Justin Goossen-Brown, Kyle White and Christian James combined for 5.2 innings of relief, giving up two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out a pair. 

Knapp, Goossen-Brown, White and James posted zeroes out of the bullpen.

Washington managed seven hits with Wes Darvill grabbing two.

Washington will look to get back on track tomorrow afternoon in the final game of their three-game series against the Slammers. Tomorrow night is Star Wars on a Kids Eat Free Sunday. First pitch is set for 5:35 p.m.
