Rough Fifth Dooms Washington in Middle Game

CRESTWOOD, Il. (July 22) – A six-run fifth and three total multi-run frames for Windy City got the job done in the middle game of the weekend series in Crestwood, as the ThunderBolts knocked off the Wild Things 10-5 to even the series.

JC Santini drove in four of Washington’s five runs in the loss and Wagner Lagrange the other, which was the game’s first run in the third on a groundout.

The Bolts scored twice in the fourth, once on a bases-loaded HBP of Troy Viola by righty Justin Showalter and the second on an RBI groundout by Paul Coumoulos. Windy City hit Showalter for four more in the sixth before the back two of the six were charged to reliever Arrison Perez. The inning was highlighted by a two-run single from Will Riley and a two-run homer from Junior Martina.

Washington got three back in the sixth on a bases-clearing double by JC Santini and scored again in the eighth on a Santini sac fly. Windy City then tallied two on a single and error in the eighth.

The rubber game of the series is scheduled for tomorrow at 2:05/1:05 p.m. CT. Dariel Fregio will make the start for Washington fresh off his first pro win. Taylor Sugg goes for Windy City.
