Wild Things Add Four Players to 2022 Roster

WASHINGTON, Pa. (April 26) - The Washington Wild Things have signed four players as the team prepares for the 2022 season and spring training. The team has brought in pitchers Benjamín Rodríguez and Brailin González, outfielder Cole Brannen and infielder/catcher Justin Henle. 

Rodríguez comes to the Wild Things from the Cubs' organization, where he was signed for six seasons and played in three. He was 7-10 in his MiLB career with a 4.30 ERA in 35 games, totaling 127.2 innings pitched. He fanned 92 opposing batters.

González played three seasons in the Mets' organization, where he reached as high as A-ball with the St. Lucie Mets. He pitched 18 games for St. Lucie and posted a career record of 8-6 in the three seasons with a 4.08 ERA in 52 games. In 103.2 innings, he struck out 123.

Brannen, an outfielder, was a second-round pick of the Boston Red Sox in 2017. He drove in 77 in the Boston system with 26 doubles and reached as high as Advanced-A. 

Henle played two seasons at Emmanuel College to close his collegiate career and hit .328/.506/.622 in 2021 with nine homers and 33 RBI. In 18 games with the West Virginia Power, now Charleston Dirty Birds, in the Atlantic League last season, he hit one home run and drove in three in 40 at bats.
