Sussex County Scores Early, Holds On For Doubleheader Sweep

AUGUSTA, NJ (August 3 - Game 2) - Sussex County earned a doubleheader sweep of the Wild Things with a game two victory by a final of 3-0.

Sussex County was able to strand two Washington baserunners in the top of the first before scoring twice in the home half of the frame. Chuck Taylor hit his sixth home run of the season before Audy Ciriaco lifted a sac fly to bring home the second run of the inning, which was unearned after an error kept the runner that scored on base.  A sac fly by Taylor scored Eric Jenkins in the second to make it 3-0.

Bralin Jackson had two hits in the loss to follow his three-hit game one. Scotty Dubrule, after losing his 13-game hit streak but advancing his on-base streak to 14 games in game one, singled in his first plate appearance to make the latter 15 games. One of the other two Washington hits came from Tristan Peterson. Nick Ward walked twice. Trevor Casanova doubled in the seventh inning.

The series continues tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. with game three of four at Skylands Stadium. The pitching matchup is TBA.
