Roa Wins Frontier League Player of the Week

Washington Wild Things outfielder Hector Roa wins this week’s Player of the Week, respectively. The award is chosen by Pointstreak, who is the official statistical provider of the Frontier League and the Independent Professional Baseball Federation. 

Roa has won his first Player of the Week award of 2019 after hitting .429, with two home runs and 12 RBI. He finished the week with a 1.162 OPS and 8.966 runs created. Roa has been on a hot streak, where he has hit safely in 9 of his last 10 games, and notched a hit in all 7 games this week. Roa also drove in three or more runs in three games this week. 

The 24-year old is in his third season with the Wild Things, after playing five seasons in the Houston Astros organization. Roa is having a great season ranking in the top 10 in almost every offensive category. On the season he is hitting .290 with 85 hits, 14 of those being home runs, 57 RBI, 48 runs scored and a .831 OPS. His 14 home runs and 57 RBI are 1st and tied for 1st in the league, respectively.
