Pitchers with Winning Pedigree Pick Washington

The Wild Things announced today the signing of RHP Brandon Nylin and RHP Elliot Forde for the upcoming season. Both players were signed out of the California Winter League per the partnership with the Frontier League.

Nylin joins Washington as one of the winningest pitchers in IU Southeast history. Primarily a starter, he posted a 15-3 record over two seasons with 5 complete games and 2 shutouts under his belt. As a senior he posted a 2.39 ERA, throwing 94 innings and striking out 80 yet only surrendering 69 hits. He signed on with the Roswell Invaders professionally and struck out another 53 in 44 innings while sporting a 2.84 ERA alongside his 4-1 record.

Forde signs his contract with the Wild Things after a college career at Misericordia University. In his four years as a Cougar he threw both as a starter and reliever en route to the program's NCAA DIII World Series appearance. In his senior campaign Forde shined with a perfect 7-0 record in 11 starts, striking out 48 batters in over 68 innings. The Pennsylvania native signed a professional contract with the French Professional Baseball League in 2018. Fore was also a fan favorite with the colorful Savannah Bananas for his body of work over the years.

"It is clear that Brandon and Elliot share a common trait, winning backgrounds. Both come from programs predicated on winning and both were key factors of that success", said General Manager Tony Buccilli. "We look to see Nylin compete for a meaningful spot in the rotation. His season with Roswell gives us something to build on and we are excited to see his focus shift to pro ball full-time", Buccilli stated. "Elliot has some more versatility we look to explore. He has been a successful starter at multiple levels, yet his mentality on the mound can translate to any role. We will put him in a mix of competitive settings and let his arm be our guide", Buccilli concluded.

The East Division Champions return to the field as they open the season Thursday, May 9 at River City, with the home opener slated for Friday, May 17 at Wild Things Park.
