Wild Things Release Loaded 2018 Promo Schedule

WASHINGTON, Pa. (March 2) - Following a successful 2017 season on and off the field, the Washington Wild Things are set to embark on another season of Frontier League baseball in 2018. Friday, the team announced its promotional schedule for 2018, which includes daily promotions, theme nights, several giveaways and much more.

“Beyond our focus to put an entertaining and winning product on the field, we strive to have the most fan-focused promotional schedule [out there]," said general manager Steven Zavacky. "We had such a special season in 2017; making the playoffs, setting numerous team records and implementing promotions that were great for our fans. We listened to [them], brought back some of the favorites and added a few new programs. Our campaign in 2018 will be focused [#ForTheFans] and we invite all to join us for a [#WildRide].”

The Wild Things have introduced six daily promotions for the 2018 home schedule, with each packing in a ton of fun and savings into each night at the ballpark this season.

"Cash Back Tuesdays" - The first 500 fans into Wild Things Park, 21 years of age and older, receive an envelope with cash savings. One of those fans will receive the grand prize of the evening.

"Wednesdays are for the Dogs" - Presented by Petco and Albert's Meats, where our four-legged friends are invited to join us at Wild Things Park. Also, fans can purchase $1 hot dogs throughout the night, as part of this promotion.

"Thirst-Tee Thursdays" - New to the promo schedule in 2017, "Thirst-Tee Thursday" involves a couple of built-in benefits to fans at the games on Thursday nights. The first 500 fans receive a free t-shirt, presented by Mylan. Also, fans 21 and older can purchase $1 pints of Stoney's Beer throughout the evening. $2 soft drinks will also be available at the ballpark.

"Fireworks Friday" - This popular promotion returns for Friday nights at Wild Things Park this season, as all fans at the game Friday nights will enjoy a spectacular post-game fireworks show. Added to the fold this year, is themed music to make the show even more enjoyable. Below is the schedule of music to be played during each of the Friday fireworks shows.

"Souvenir Saturdays" - The first 1,000 fans through the gates receive a special souvenir giveaway.

“Everyone loves a great baseball giveaway and we are happy to announce a full schedule of souvenirs for Saturdays. Be sure to arrive at the ballpark early," said Zavacky. "Bobbleheads are always a hot-ticket item and the three we have on schedule will make a great addition to one’s collection. We are also fortunate to have hosted the Frontier League’s only perfect game, so that statue commemorating Matt Sergey will be quite memorable.” 

"Kids Eat Free Sundays" - Presented by WTAE. At all Sunday home games, kids 12 years old and younger will receive a free ticket to the game, and a voucher good for a hot dog, chips and a drink at the concession stands. Not only that, but the Wild Things Park traditions of post-game autographs and kids running the bases return for another season in 2018. “It was important that we created unmatched value in our daily promo schedule. Every day of the week is now packed full with special opportunities for fans," said Zavacky. "We intend to make every game its own unique party and expect fans to explore the ballpark throughout the week. "Happy Half Hour" is also back for 2018. Fans 21 and older receive half off all domestic drafts for a half hour following gates opening for the evening's contest.

The Wild Things will also offer several special events and theme nights throughout the 2018 season. As mentioned, Opening Night May 15 will have a special fireworks show, presented by DnT Enterprises.

In addition, the Wild Things host "Salute to Service Night" Saturday, June 9. On that night, Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman and military vet Alejandro Villanueva will be at the game, and the first 1,000 fans to enter the ballpark will receive a "Big Al" bobblehead. Ticket proceeds will be donated to benefit the It's About the Warrior Foundation.

The next big night is "Dingers Only Night" with Pat McAfee, presented by Venture Energy Solutions. On Thursday, June 21, the former Indianapolis Colts punter, Plum Mustang and West Virginia Mountaineer will start in right field for the team that night, bat and then coach first base. Friday, August 10, is "Baseball Fights Cancer Night," and will directly benefit the Mario Lemieux Foundation.

Most Sundays and other select nights throughout the season will be themed for fans. For example, the Wild Things host "Star Wars Night" Sunday, August 5, "Princess Night" Sunday, June 10, "Super Splash Day" with a special 11:05 a.m. start time, Thursday, June 27 and "Movie Night" Friday, July 13. Also, "Wrestling Night" makes its return Thursday, July 26. A full list of the theme nights is available on the team's website here.

“Last year we struck gold with our Wrestling Night and the engagement it created with fans. It was a priority for us to expand on that schedule and dedicate our offseason efforts to creating memories," said Zavacky. "We are happy to introduce theme nights for both adults and children, allowing us to showcase our ability to entertain all generations.”
