Washington Inks Former Binghamton Star Nick Wegmann

JOLIET, Il. (May 29) - Today the Wild Things announced the signing of 2018 Binghamton graduate and left-handed pitcher Nick Wegmann, who is with the team in Joliet. In a corresponding move, right-hander Aaron Burns was placed on the 7-Day disabled list Monday.

Wegmann, a native of Apalachin, New York, pitched four seasons at Binghamton. For the Bearcats, Wegmann appeared in 51 games over the course of his four years with the program, and started 32 of those games. He logged 187 innings at Binghamton and struck out 140 batters to 61 walks in his career. Wegmann held a career earned run average of 3.82.

Nick played the last two seasons with his brother TJ, a catcher for Binghamton, as the duo was the only NCAA Division I sibling battery in the entire country in 2018. Nick Wegmann was named to the America East all-conference baseball team for the second consecutive season in 2018, as he earned his second-straight second-team honor.

Burns was placed on the disabled list yesterday, after starting Sunday's game. Burns is 1-0 on the season with a 2.79 ERA.

The Wild Things begin a six-game road trip tonight with the series opener against the Joliet Slammers. First pitch is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. EST.
