Washington Adds White Sox SS

The Washington Wild Things have signed INF Trevin Sonnier for the 2017 season. His addition solidifies a need for strength up the middle and adds high baseball IQ.

Sonnier completed his redshirt senior season in 2016, playing for Oral Roberts University. Following two seasons with Dallas Baptist University the Texas native joined the Golden Eagles of the Summit League and his impact was felt immediately. In is one season with ORU, Sonnier hit .308 starting all 59 games at SS and leading the team with 11 SB. 

The White Sox signed Sonnier on June 21st and he posted a .252 average in 38 games. He added another 9 SB and showed his versatility playing 4 different positions in the Arizona League.

General Manager Steven Zavacky discussed the signing, "Trevin is a SS to us. He has shown versatility at the professional level but we feel like his abilities at short showcase him best. Offensively, we anticipate him to be a mature situational hitter and also press defenses on the bases. We are happy to welcome Trevin and his family to Washington."
