Evansville Uses Big Fourth Inning in Series Evening Win

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Evansville Otters [16-16] evened up the series against the Washington Wild Things [17-15] with a 9-4 win Saturday night.

Right-handed pitcher Cameron Stanton, just signed by Washington earlier in the day, made his debut with the team. Stanton pitched three innings, allowing three earned runs on six hits while striking out two as well. 

Right-handed pitcher Diego Ibarra made his debut for the Evansville Otters, going six innings and allowing six hits and four earned runs. The bullpen for the Otters went three innings, and did not allow a run. 

The scoring started in the second inning when shortstop Christopher Riopedre singled to score a run for Evansville. However, the Wild Things were able to tie the game up in the bottom half of the second inning with a home run by third basemen Mike Hill. 

The Otters lit up the scoreboard in the fourth inning, scoring six runs all together. Second basemen Josh Allen had a huge game for Evansville, going 4-5 with two runs scored and four RBI, finishing just a single shy of the cycle. 

First baseman Kane Sweeney had a big game for the Wild Things, going 2-3 with two runs scored, while catcher John Fidanza went 2-4 with two RBI as well. 

The two teams will play the rubber match tomorrow, Sunday, June 18, at 5:05 p.m.
