Wild Things Sign Haar and Ziznewski

The Washington Wild Things are excited to announce the signings of infielders Bryan Haar and John Ziznewski to their 2016 roster.

Haar, a San Diego native played collegiately at the University of San Diego from 2009-2012, sharing the diamond with NL Rookie of the Year Kris Bryant. The Minnesota Twins selected Haar in the 34th round of the 2012 MLB Draft. Haar played four seasons with the Twins and was a career .264 hitter, slugging 95 XBHs and driving in 138 runs over 298 games. Haar was named a 2014 Organizational All-Star and 2014 Midwest League All-Star.

"Haar's signing is exactly what we were looking to add for the Wild Things,” said Wild Things’ field manager Gregg Langbehn. “He plays both infield corner spots and his bat should produce for us significantly in the middle of our order.”

Ziznewski, completed his college career with Long Island University of the Northeast Conference. The Staten Island native led the conference in hits (72), HR (9) and RBI (55) during the 2014 season on route to being named NEC Player of the Year. Ziznewski was then a June selection of the Chicago White Sox in the 8th round. This past season, in Kannapolis, Ziznewski set career highs in all major categories.

"We are thrilled to be adding Ziznewski to our infield mix. He has the versatility we look for, the ability to play all four positions. His bat and experience are also major positives we wanted to address.” said Langbehn.

The Wild Things will open their 15th season of Frontier League Baseball in May.  The home opener is scheduled for Friday, May 20th.  Season and Group packages are available at the CONSOL Energy Park Box Office, 724-250-9555.
