Washington and Traverse City Split Double Header

Washington and Traverse City split a Double Header at CONSOL Energy Park Wednesday night.  Traverse City emerged victorious in game one with a 3-1 score and Washington won the second game 4-3.

Game one of the twin bill between Traverse City and Washington was a quick paced pitchers duel, timing out in 1 hour and 37 minutes.

Trevor Foss made the start for the Wild Things, earning a complete game for his efforts.

David Popkins lofted a majestic shot over the right-center video board for his first homerun of the season.

Traverse City was able to take the win 3-1 following two homeruns against the Wild Things’ ace, but Washington made sure to save some late heroics for Game 2.

In the evening 8:15pm start, Conner Kendrick cruised through six innings of work, allowing one hit and striking out four batters. Washington took a 3-1 lead into the seventh, following another no doubt homerun into the parking lot for RF David Popkins.

The plot would thicken in the top of the 7th, as the Beach Bums put two runs on the board with two outs. The Wild Things refused to allow this game to go into extra innings however, as Jamal Austin and Austin Wobrock set the table with one out. Following a strikeout and a hit batter, 1st year Wild Thing, Ricky Rodriguez walked to the plate. Rodriguez delivered with a booming gap shot to send Washington home as walk off winners 4-3.
