Wild Things Drop Game Three at the Crib

Normal, IL – The Washington Wild things finished up their six game road trip tonight against the Normal CornBelters. The Belters got the best of Washington with a 2-0 final score victory.

Wild Things pitcher Chase Cunningham (2-1) seemed to dialed in, striking out the first two batters he faced. Cunningham racked up strikes in four straight innings and finished the day five total, allowing just one run off four hits. Max Homick (2-2) picked up the win for the CornBelters, surrendering just two hits in 6.2 innings pitched.

Normal took the early lead in the bottom of the 3rd inning on a wild pitch that scored Mike Fish. Santiago Chirino set up the run with a single and fielder’s choice. The Wild Things threatened with runners on base in both the 6th and 7th innings. Alex McKeon registered the first hit for the Wild Things with a single in the top of 6th.  Jimmy Yezzo also reached base with a 7th inning ground rule double. Ty Morris tacked on an insurance run for the Belters with a solo home run to extend the lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the 7th.
