Washington Drops Game One Against Otters 3-2

Washington, PA, June 3, 2016 – The Washington Wild Things (9-9) played a back and forth contest Friday against the Evansville Otters (13-7) at CONSOL Energy Park. Washington fell by a score of 3-2 in front of 2576 fans for Burgettstown Night.

 Matt Fraudin (2-0) pitched a solid seven innings for Washington, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out three. Kolin Stanley, who pitched two inning and allowed one run on two hits while striking out two, took the loss for Washington.

 Washington got on the board first when in the second inning catcher Alex McKeon hit a line-drive to plate Ricky Rodriguez, the designated hitter.  

Evansville answered in the fourth inning when Josh Allen hit a home run over the left field wall. The Otters went on to add another run in the inning when Chris Breen drove in John Schultz with a sacrifice fly, giving the Otters the lead (2-1).

 The Otters advantage was brief because in the bottom of the fourth,  Austin Wobrock tied the game when he scored on an error.

The game remained tied at 2 until the top of the eighth inning when Evansville’s Allen doubled, driving in Rolando Gomez with what would be the final score (3-2).

 The Wild Things and Evansville meet for game two of the series Saturday when first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. EDT. Saturday will be beach towel giveaway sponsored by CONSOL Energy; the first 1000 fans to enter the park will receive a free beach towel.
