Washington Wins Tough Outing Against Florence Freedom

WASHINGTON, PA – The Washington Wild Things (22-20) and the Florence Freedom (15-27) faced off in a July 1, 2016 matchup at CONSOL Energy Park. Washington won the game 4-3 in the nine-inning competition.

RHP Luke Wilkins (2-1) led the Wild Things to victory; he produced six strikeouts and allowed five hits in his eight innings on the mound. The Wild Things exploded with 10 hits – Austin, Yezzo, Fink and Pollock executed singles. Yezzo and Fox blasted triples, while Popkins shot his fifth homerun of the season. LHP Devon Davis (1-0) recorded the save on the outing.

Florence produced five hits and earned three runs during the competition. Washington worked hard offensively, producing three 1-2-3 innings.
