Wild Things Lose Offensive Matchup

WASHINGTON, PA – The Washington Wild Things (25-22) and the Schaumburg Boomers (24-26) went head-to-head in a Friday, July 8, 2016 offensive match. Washington fell to Schaumburg with a score of 5-4 in the nine-inning competition.

RHP Luke Wilkins (2-1) started on the mound for the Wild Things; he produced five strikeouts, allowed six hits and lowered his ERA to 3.25 in his 6.1 innings on the mound. LHP Brian O’Keefe, RHP Kolin Stanley and RHP Devon Davis all went in for relief for the Wild Things.

Washington scored first when Chris Grayson crossed home on a Boomers error. A few Wild Things singles and a David Popkins homerun increased the home team lead. The Boomers came out offensively, producing nine hits in the outing. The Boomers would tie the game when LHP Kolin Stanley would throw back-to-back wild pitches. RHP Devon Davis will record the loss for Washington after Schaumburg’s Ino Patron blasted a double.

The Wild Things and the Boomers are back in action tomorrow, July 9, 2016 starting at 7:05 p.m. The outing will serve as “Cicada Night” at CONSOL Energy Park, along with Saturday Giveaway where the first 1,000 fans will receive an “ugly blanket” courtesy of CONSOL Energy.
