Washington Cicadas* Shut Out Schaumburg Boomers 5-0

Washington, PA – The Washington Cicadas (AKA Wild Things) shut out the Schaumburg Boomers in the second game of a three game series Saturday night. The Cicadas registered fourteen hits in a 5-0 final score victory.

Matt Fraudin (3-4) secured the victory on the mound, striking out six and surrendering just two hits in 6.0 innings pitched. Seth Webster (4-5) is charged with the loss for Schaumburg.

The Cicadas got out to an early lead with an RBI single from David Popkins, set up by a Chris Grayson two out triple. Washington struck again in the bottom of the 4th with a single from Grant Fink that set up a Logan Uxa two run shot, giving the Cicadas a 3-0 lead.

Washington continued there scoring into the 5th inning with a lead off single from Austin Wobrock. Wobrock advanced to second on an error from the pitcher and was later driven in extending the lead to 4-0. The Cicadas added some insurance in the bottom of the 7th courtesy of a David Popkins RBI single that brought home Chris Grayson, extending the lead to 5-0.
