Wild Things Fall to River City Rascals

RIVER CITY, MO - The Washington Wild Things took on the River City Rascals in double header action today at CarShield Field. The Rascals got the best of the Wild Things in games one and two. River City took game one by a final score of 2-0 and game two by a final score of 9-2. Matt Fraudin is charged with the loss in game one, striking out eight and surrendering two runs in six innings. Austin Warner picked up the win for the Rascals, striking out five in five innings pitched.

Clint Freeman picked up the game winning run with a solo home run in the bottom of the 2nd. Kyle Gaedele added some insurance in the bottom of the 6th with a sacrifice fly that brought home Mike Jurgella, extending the lead to 2-0.

Brian O'Keefe is charged with the loss in game two, striking out two in three innings pitched. Tim Koons earns the win with four strikeouts in seven innings pitched. River City jumped out to the early lead with a two run RBI double from Josh Luddy that made it 2-0. Washington answered in the top of the 2nd with an RBI single from Grant Fink and Steve Sulcoski putout that tied the game at 2-2.

River City took over from there scoring two more runs in the bottom of the 2nd on an RBI double and balk that put the Rascals out front 4-2. River City added two more runs in the bottom of the third on a pass ball and Jason Merjano RBI double. A three run 5th inning put the game out of reach and the Rascals out in front 9-2.

Washington finishes their series with the Rascals tomorrow night at CarShield Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 EDT.
