Wegmann, Meeker, Balaguer and Strecker Shutout Boomers
WASHINGTON, Pa. (July 28) - Nick Wegmann, James Meeker, Jesus Balaguer and Zach Strecker combined to toss the sixth Wild Things' shutout of the season, as Washington defeated Schaumburg by a final of 5-0 to salvage a game in the series.

Washington started and finished the scoring in the game. In the third, JR Davis hit an RBI double over the head of the Boomers' left fielder Jack Parenty to make it 1-0. A solo shot by Cameron Baranek made it 2-0 in the fifth before Hector Roa hit a two-run homer in the sixth to push the Wild Things' lead to 4-0. A few batters later, Baranek hit a sacrifice fly to left field to plate the final run of the game, before, on the same play, Stephen Lohr was thrown out trying to get to first, having not tagged up.

Nick Wegmann tossed 5.2 scoreless for his fourth win of the season, and allowed six hits with four punchouts and three walks. James Meeker then fanned one over 1.1 scoreless before Jesus Balaguer allowed two hits but struck out two in a scoreless eighth inning. Zach Strecker pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to close the game.

The Wild Things received a multi-hit performance from Baranek, Roa, Shaine Hughes and JR Davis. They now turn their attention to a seven game in six day road trip which starts Tuesday in Crestwood, Illinois, with the first of three with the Windy City ThunderBolts. First pitch Tuesday is slated for 8:05 p.m. ET.
