Wild Things Set to Play in Frontier League Championship Series For First Time Since 2007

WASHINGTON, Pa. (Sept. 10) - By earning a series sweep Friday with a win over the Evansville Otters in game three of the Frontier League Division Series, the Washington Wild Things have captured a berth in this week's Frontier League Championship Series. It's the first time since 2007 the Wild Things will play for a league title, and they'll be in search of their first championship in franchise history. Washington is set to host games one and two, as well as five, if necessary, of the best-of-five Championship Series.

Game one is Tuesday, September 11, with game two scheduled for Wednesday, September 12. Both first pitches are at 7:05 p.m., with gates opening at 6 p.m. Game five, if it is necessary, is scheduled for Monday, September 17, at 7:05 p.m.

Tickets for all home games are $5 to sit anywhere in the park. Kids 12 and under receive free admission. The first 500 fans through the gates Tuesday for Game One will receive an East Division Championship T-Shirt, and fans through the gates Wednesday for Game Two will receive Wild Things' thunder sticks.

Also, the team's popular Sunday promotion, "Kids Eat Free Sundays," will invade every Frontier League Championship Series game at Wild Things Park. Kids 12 and under not only receive a free ticket to the game, but will eat for free (hot dog, chips and a drink).

Washington will play East Division-foe Joliet for the league championship. It will be the first ever playoff meeting between the two teams. Joliet won a title in its first season in the league in 2011, and is in the midst of its third postseason appearance. Washington played for the championship in its inaugural season in 2002 and again in 2007, but was not able to capture a crown in either trip to the FLCS.
