Washington Acquires LHP Jake Eaton from Salina Stockade for PTBN

WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Washington Wild Things have acquired a left-handed reliever from the Salina Stockade, an American Association team this year, the team announced today. Jake Eaton, a 25-year old lefty listed at 6 feet 6 inches tall, comes to the Wild Things in a trade for a player to be named. He’ll be active for tonight’s game at Gateway.

Eaton has played for three professional teams in total throughout parts of the last two seasons. In 2016, Eaton started with the Gary SouthShore Railcats of the American Association and only saw 2.1 innings across two appearances before signing on with the Tucson Saguaros of the Pecos League. It was there where Eaton tossed 9.1 innings and had an ERA of 4.82.

The southpaw started this season with the Stockade and has pitched his way to a 5.71 ERA (11 earned runs) in 17.1 innings. He;s also struck out 21 batters to just nine walks in 2017.

A LaPorte, Indiana, native, Eaton played his collegiate ball at Anderson University (Division III - Heartland Conference) and was very good there, as he was named to two separate All-Tournament teams, a two-time second team all-conference selection and in 2016 (senior year) was named All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference First Team. He had a career record of 19-6 and a 3.01 earned run average for the Ravens.

No corresponding move will be made to activate Eaton, as he becomes the 24th play on the active roster for Washington. Again, he’ll be available for tonight’s game against the Grizzlies, which begins at 7:05 p.m.
