Ross Vecchio - General Manager
Vecchio, the 2004 Frontier League Executive of the Year, has been the General
Manager of the Wild Things since the team’s inception in 2002. The
Washington franchise has been honored as the Frontier League Organization
of the year in 2002, 2004, and 2005 with Vecchio at the helm.
The Turnersville,
New Jersey native is a graduate of Elizabethtown (PA) College. He began
his career with the Philadelphia Phillies working in both Philadelphia
and Clearwater, the Phillies spring training home. Following his time with
the Phillies, he was Spring Training coordinator for the New York Mets
and General Manager of the St. Lucie Mets where he was named Florida State
League Executive of the Year in 1994. He has also spent time with the Salem
Avalanche of the Carolina League and the Lehigh Valley Black Diamonds of
the Atlantic League. Prior to joining the Wild Things, Ross was General
Manager of the Jupiter Hammerheads of the Florida State League.
Vecchio
enjoys spending time with family and friends, running, and biking. His
favorite Wild Things’ memory is the first pitch on opening night
at Falconi Field in 2002. His favorite sports teams are the Chicago Cubs,
Philadelphia Eagles and he enjoys following Penn State football. Vecchio
resides in Canonsburg with his wife, Donna and their son, Andrew.
