When the field was under construction in 2002, the construction crew spotted a wild animal. This creature became a regular around the site. Because the wild thing seemed to be fascinated with the baseball team, they adopted the wild animal as their mascot, The Washington Wild Thing.
He has become, without a doubt, the number one Washington Wild Things' fan. He attends all home games, rooting for his favorite team, leading the crowd in team cheers, and even doing his world-famous Wild Thing "work-out."
The Wild Thing says his favorite foods are hot dogs, peanuts, and Cracker Jacks, all of which can be found in the concession stands at the field. He's even acquiring a taste for funnel cakes! His favorite pastimes include watching the Wild Things and riding his four-wheeler around CONSOL Energy Park. He also enjoys launching t-shirts and hot dogs into the crowds of fans.
The Wild Thing loves to meet and greet baseball fans at the field, and he loves making appearances at schools and events when he has time in his busy schedule.
The Wild Things most important message to youngsters and baseball fans of all ages is to be Tobacco Free. He spends time working with the Tobacco Free Program of Washington County Health Partners. "Stay away from all tobacco products to be healthy," says the Wild Thing.
The Wild Thing is available for events. If you would like him to visit your school or group, call the box office at (724-250-9555) for details and availability. There is a 4 week advance notice requested due to popularity of Wild Thing.
Because the Wild Thing has been in such great demand, his agent (yes, he has an agent) requires a Appearance Fee subject to time and distance involved. Contact us for more information. wherrod@washingtonwildthings.com.
