Wild Things Come Out on Top of High Scoring Game
Ben Ramsey had eventful night going 3-for-4

Washington, Pa – The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, beat the Chillicothe Paints for the second time this season in a 13-7 victory at CONSOL Energy Park Thursday night.

Chris Sidick led off the first inning with a double into the right-centerfield gap. Matt Sutton and Jarod Rine added back-to-back singles to score the first two runs of the evening for the Wild Things. Later in the inning Ben Ramsey unloaded the bases to give the Wild Things a three run cushion.

In the second inning, the Wild Things scored another run off a wild pitch after two consecutive ground ball outs moved over base runner Rene Quintana.

A big inning in the bottom of the fourth gave the Wild Things a 10-4 lead entering the fifth. Rine, Messner and Ramsey each had singles, while Quintana added a double to the arsenal of hits.

The Wild Things got their bats going again in the seventh, putting two men on with only one out. Ben Ramsey got another double bringing in Nathan Messner. The very next batter, Justin Gregula, hit a towering two out, two run, homerun over the leftfield fence making the score 13-7.

Leading all batters for the Wild Things was third baseman Ben Ramsey going 3-for-4 with two doubles, a single and three RBI. Jarod Rine also had a solid game going 2-for-5 with two singles, two RBI, and scoring two runs.

Starting pitcher Patrick Sadler went 4.2 innings, giving up six runs while striking out three. J.J. Hollenbeck, the winning pitcher for the contest, came in during the fifth inning and quickly retired the side with a strikeout.

After loading the bases with one out, Hollenbeck worked his way out a jam leaving three left on base and only letting one run score. He left after 2.1 innings, giving up two hits and two strikeouts. Justin Mattison came in the eighth to close the game for the Wild Things, allowing no hits with two strikeouts.

The Wild Things improve their record to 7-2 and will finish their home stand against the Paints Friday night at CONSOL Energy Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. For tickets, call the box office at 724-250-9555.
